Pam Jones Law

When Pam Jones hired me to tell her story for her business, two aspects reached out to me. Pam’s story was the center of her life, her business, and how she connected with her clients. It was important to capture that story, but also to show her kind, empathetic personality. I used a bright saturated color for her outfit, and a more somber background to achieve the balance with which to tell her story. I also felt it would show her personality wrapped up in one cinematic commercial.

Non-Profit Documentary Color Grade Demo

When I was commissioned for the project of filming a graduation for a non-profit organization, the phrase used most often to describe it was “we want a documentary feel.” Documentary film has many different styles, and subcategories within those styles. So I went with a more natural, run and gun feeling to match the great energy in the room at the time of shooting. I used a bit more saturated colors, bright lights, and natural skin tones to show my take of the documentary feel for my client.

Sump’n Else

Sumpt’n Else band had a gig on the Strip in Las Vegas. It was clear to the band and myself to showcase the location but never to take the attention away from the band. With some creative color grading, I was able to blow out the background just enough to reduce the background buildings from the frame, but have the Fremont Experience street sign stand out just enough to catch your eye for a second. However, your eye will still be pulled to the main guitarist, then the bassist. With great color grading comes great responsibility, and controlling the audience’s eye is what I do well.

Amateur to Pro Artist Color Grade Demo

A Guest for Dinner is an award-winning horror short, and it had many challenges. They ranged from extremely tight resources to shooting in low light. However, we were able to take these challenges and make some creamy darks while protecting the highlights.

Indie Color Grade Demo

As You Wish, slated for release in 2023, is another horror short with its own unique set of problems. However, with problems comes creative solutions that ultimately lead to a far more interesting look that will keep the attention of its audience. Pay special attention to the texture in the shadows, they don’t just look real, they feel real.
